The Red Sox still have options to add an impact bat to their lineup.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>The Red Sox are <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ChrisCotillo\/status\/2014122875939164163\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:reportedly still looking into;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">reportedly still looking into<\/a> trades to add an impactful position player to their team, but Eugenio Su\u00e1rez as a free agent also makes sense. He plays third base and could be a direct replacement for Bregman. He is one of the best bats remaining in free agency, and other teams could also be targeting him.<\/p>\n<p>Su\u00e1rez could be a great fit for the Red Sox and may not cost as much as alternatives. He is an older player who could be willing to sign a shorter deal. However, that makes his market wider. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/story\/_\/id\/47692228\/mlb-offseason-2025-26-bold-predictions-trades-free-agency-skubal-valdez-red-sox-mets-yankees\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:ESPN\u2019s Tristan Cockcroft predicted;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">ESPN\u2019s Tristan Cockcroft predicted<\/a> the Pittsburgh Pirates would land him and not the Red Sox.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m already on board for a\u00a0Pirates-led National League Central\u00a0this year, and what better way for them to make a push in that direction than to address their\u00a0severe\u00a0power shortage with one of the best power hitters still on the free agent market?\u201d wrote Cockcroft on Friday. \u201cSuarez might accept a shorter deal with higher AAV and\/or a post-2026 opt-out \u2014 think two years, $42 million \u2014 and he would balance what\u2019s currently a lefty-heavy Pirates lineup that is also thin on the left side of the infield.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Su\u00e1rez was one of the most sought-after players at the trade deadline last year. He hit 36 home runs in 106 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks before getting dealt to the Seattle Mariners.<\/p>\n<p>He did not hit well with the Mariners, who play at the pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park. However, he finished the season with 49 home runs and an .824 OPS. He was named an All-Star for the second time in his career.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>He would bring plenty of power to the Red Sox lineup, and adding him would allow Marcelo Mayer to play at second base.
