Suarez has been an elite power hitter for much of his career and would be a nice addition in New York.

SB Nation’s Estevao Maximo believes the Yankees should consider making a move for Suarez, and not because they need him, but because the move would align with how other very good teams operate.

“Are the Yankees already a good offense without Suárez? Yes. Do they particularly need him? Not really. Would he make them better right now? Definitely,” he wrote. “There is no way you could reasonably argue that the Dodgers needed Kyle Tucker, but they signed him anyway, exercising their position of financial strength, to make it happen.”

The Yankees’ offense, especially after recent additions, is very good. Aaron Judge remains the centerpiece, Cody Bellinger can swing it, and the supporting cast is solid. However, if the Yankees want to take that next step like the Dodgers have, adding more is truly never a bad thing. More importantly, his presence would add to a lineup that’s just OK at the bottom of it.

Adding Suarez would also help others in the lineup get better pitches to hit. If he were to hit behind someone like Jazz Chisholm, pitchers could attack him with strikes in fear of Suarez leaving the year.

Maximo also wrote about the financial part, which would work in the Yankees’ favor.

“Signing Suárez would have an impact, but it’d hardly represent an unreasonable ask,” he wrote. “With his age and a market that isn’t as open with other big names having already signed, Suárez might be more inclined to take a shorter deal with a higher AAV.”

Rather than committing long-term years, New York could pursue a two or three-year deal that doesn’t cost them too much. The front office has shown they’re willing to spend on short-term deals, and Suarez shouldn’t be too expensive.

The Yankees don’t need Suarez to win it all, but as Maximo pointed out, the Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t need Kyle Tucker. The best always want to get better and the Yankees need to take that mindset.

The New York Yankees might be done in the offseason, but players like Eugenio Suarez still remain out…

[2406
106,5,1365,39,71341,92,29,1165,4332,4333,774,57,3224,4331,4,1690,62
0":"post-539907","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-los-angeles-dodgers","8":"tag-aaron-judge","9":"tag-baseball","10":"tag-cody-bellinger","11":"tag-dodgers","12":"tag-estevao-maximo","13":"tag-eugenio-suarez","14":"tag-kyle-tucker","15":"tag-la","16":"tag-la-dodgers","17":"tag-ladodgers","18":"tag-los-angeles","19":"tag-los-angeles-dodgers","20":"tag-losangeles","21":"tag-losangelesdodgers","22":"tag-mlb","23":"tag-new-york","24":"tag-new-york-yankees
["GET
