{"id":542060,"date":"2026-01-28T09:28:31","date_gmt":"2026-01-28T09:28:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/542060\/"},"modified":"2026-01-28T09:28:31","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T09:28:31","slug":"freddy-peralta-introduced-to-new-york-im-really-happy-to-be-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/542060\/","title":{"rendered":"Freddy Peralta Introduced to New York: &#8220;I&#8217;m Really Happy to Be Here&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After <a href=\"https:\/\/metsmerizedonline.com\/mets-acquire-freddy-peralta-tobias-myers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">being traded to the New York Mets<\/a> last week, the Mets on Tuesday officially introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/p\/peralfr01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=metsmerizedonline.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-27_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Freddy Peralta<\/a> to New York.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peralta first talked about his initial reaction to the trade. \u201cI was prepared for the moment,\u201d Peralta stated, knowing a trade was imminent. \u201cI\u2019m really happy to be here with New York and to represent the New York Mets organization.\u201d He described New York as a different market and city than he\u2019s used to, and talked about how there\u2019s more fans and more eyes on players.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is also a bit of a reunion as David Stearns was the general manager for the Brewers from in 2015-2022. One of his first moves then was trading for the righty. Part of trading for Peralta twice had to do not only with how well he performs on the field, but Stearns noted his tremendous leadership qualities off the field. For Peralta, he says he just tries to be himself.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEvery single day. \u2026 It doesn\u2019t matter whether we lost or won the night before, how good or bad was my game the night before or the same day, I just try to be myself,\u201d he said. He grew up with the mindset of trying to help others, trying to feel good about himself, and trying to make other feel good about him and themselves as well.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-252684\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/IMG_9094.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"865\" height=\"649\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Playing in New York<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When he was asked about the pressure of playing in front of the New York fans and how playing in the MLB postseason has prepared him for that, he said it\u2019s helped him a lot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe game during playoffs is a different level,\u201d he stated. \u201cAnd I think New York every day feels like that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Peralta is already in Port St. Lucie, where he works out with former Met, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/severlu01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=metsmerizedonline.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-27_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Luis Severino<\/a>, who is now with the Oakland Athletics. Though they play for different teams, the two players share a close relationship and have talked a lot about New York.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe workout every day together. Even since the trade, we\u2019ve been working out together,\u201d said Peralta.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outside of for Met Severino, Peralta has already had conversations with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/t\/tayloty01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=metsmerizedonline.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-27_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tyrone Taylor<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lindofr01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=metsmerizedonline.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-27_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Francisco Lindor<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/manaese01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=metsmerizedonline.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-27_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Sean Manaea<\/a>, Francisco Alv\u00e1rez, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=sotoju01,soto--004jua&amp;search=Juan+Soto&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=metsmerizedonline.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-27_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Juan Soto<\/a>. \u201cThey\u2019re welcoming me very well and making me feel a part of the family already,\u201d he said. \u201cAll of them called, they shared some thoughts and have welcomed me very well,\u201d he stated. \u201cIt makes me feel really good, and I told them I can\u2019t wait to be with you guys together and have fun together,\u201d exclaimed Peralta with a smile.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He also said he\u2019s approaching the pressure of New York by playing by embracing the Latino hunger to win.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI know how the Latinos are [in New York], and we have the hunger to win inside,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe just want to win,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Other Notes from the Press Conference<\/p>\n<p>There are no active discussion for a contract extension, Peralta said. Right now, his focus right now is on getting to know his teammates and the city.<br \/>\nPeralta is undecided on whether or not he will pitch in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
