When San Francisco Giants president of baseball operations Buster Posey looks at who he has available off the bench, third baseman-outfielder Miguel Andujar could be an available player.<\/p>\n
Andujar is one of the major-league players who are still available on the free agent market at this time.<\/p>\n

There are a number of other players, like Paul Goldschmidt and Chris Bassitt, still out there for teams to pick up.<\/p>\n
Still, MLB writer Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report<\/a> put together a list of those free agents that teams could make a run for either before or during the upcoming 2026 MLB season.<\/p>\n What were Reuter’s main points about Andujar? There were some to pay attention to if you’re a Giants fan.<\/p>\n In looking at why Andujar is still on the market at this time, Reuter wrote, “Back in 2018, there were five AL Rookie of the Year voters who thought Miguel Andujar had a better rookie season than Shohei Ohtani.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n “However, in the six seasons that followed his stellar debut, he hit a combined .254\/.286\/.361 for an 81 OPS+ over 825 plate appearances while tallying minus-1.5 WAR in 219 games,” Reuter continued. “He enjoyed an out-of-nowhere renaissance in 2025, but his batted-ball metrics hint at significant regression to come.”<\/p>\n In his nine-year MLB career, Andujar has played for the New York Yankees<\/a>, Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a>, Athletics<\/a> and, last season, the Cincinnati Reds<\/a>.<\/p>\n As to what type of impact Andujar could have on a team this season, Reuter wrote, “At this point, teams are hunting for potential bench pieces and platoon players.<\/p>\n “His underlying metrics are not great, but it’s all silly to just completely ignore the numbers he put up last year over a relatively large sample size of 341 plate appearances,” Reuter wrote.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n “On a one-year deal for a couple million dollars, he has a chance to be a nice power source in a part-time role.”<\/p>\n Could the Giants find enough money to give Andujar a run? Maybe first-year Giants manager Tony Vitello could use another veteran to help him in his rookie season.<\/p>\n It should be noted that Posey has been working hard to get a roster in shape for Vitello. The former baseball head coach at the University of Tennessee is entering his first MLB spring training soon.<\/p>\n Right now, Posey and Vitello are reviewing who would really help the Giants soar into a competitive team this season.
