Griffin was one of four Pittsburgh prospects in Keith Law\u2019s updated top 100 list for The Athletic (subscription required) this week. However, the Pirates just missed Tier 1 of his new farm system rankings<\/a>. They\u2019re at the top of Tier 2 at No. 4 overall, behind only the Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019ve got the No. 1 prospect in the sport \u2014 a guy who\u2019s a No. 1 for the ages, I think \u2014 and a pair of potential front-line starters in the system to go with Paul Skenes, plus a long list of position-player prospects who look like they\u2019re really going to hit,\u201d Law wrote. \u201cSome have power, some have on-base skills, some really don\u2019t do much beyond putting the ball in play, but this isn\u2019t the Pirates\u2019 system of five or 10 years ago with a bunch of punch-and-judy hitters and back-end starters. There\u2019s ceiling here \u2014 like, Sistine Chapel kind of ceiling. Let\u2019s hope there isn\u2019t a Last Judgment on the outfield walls.\u201d<\/p>\n That\u2019s great news for Pittsburgh, which upgraded its MLB roster<\/a> this offseason as well.<\/p>\n Law believes Griffin has Mike Trout potential<\/a>, which would be franchise-altering if true.
