The Dodgers are a clear suitor, as they’ve proven they’re willing to go after the top players to remain in contention for the World Series.

More news: Dodgers’ Dave Roberts Says He Should Manage Team USA at 2028 LA Olympics

They aren’t the only team in the mix for the ace, though.

“As far as Tarik Skubal goes, the Yankees have been a team that have been inquiring and trying to get [him],” McKain said on Dodgers Dougout Live. “My understanding from the Yankees and the Mets is [the asking price] was too high for them. The Yankees haven’t added anyone yet. The Yankees don’t want to give up their top prospects and they don’t want to give up too much on their end.

“From my understanding, the Yankees, the Mets and one other team I’ve checked in on, they don’t see how it’s going to happen based on what they gauge is the asking price. I think this is great news for the Dodgers. If there was another team out there that was as all-in for the World Series as the Dodgers are, I think we would’ve seen him get traded this offseason.”

Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal celebrates striking out Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh in the sixth inning of ALDS Game 5 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025.

With the Mets and Yankees shying away from the southpaw, the Dodgers are in the driver’s seat. L.A. has plenty of pieces they could move for a superstar like Skubal, the question is whether or not they would part with them.

More news: Dodgers Fan Favorite Set to Coach in NBA All-Star Celebrity Game

L.A. has plenty of starting pitching depth, and they’ve only gotten stronger after winning the World Series last season.
