The Texas Rangers released their list of non-roster players who will be in camp with the big club this coming February during 2026 Spring Training. Sebastian Walcott, arguably the team\u2019s best prospect, is on the list. Additionally, several other notable prospects and ex-Major Leaguers are on it, as well.<\/p>\n
The prospects<\/p>\n
We went over Sebastian Walcott<\/a> extensively in our 2025 Rangers farm recap<\/a> but it\u2019s worth stating again \u2014 Walcott was fantastic last season with Frisco.<\/p>\n The 19-year-old slashed .255\/.355\/.386 with 13 home runs and 34 extra-base hits, as well as 32 stolen bases, last season. Despite the high ground balls and questions regarding the defense, Walcott has the tools to be an elite player. And, he posted a take rate of nearly 56%, showcasing that he can take pitches and work counts (he does that moreso than his peers in Double-A).<\/p>\n However, there are still questions about where he\u2019ll fit in long-term and whether he can crack the Opening Day roster. It\u2019s possible, as the Rangers have been aggressive with some of their prospects, and it\u2019s not peculiar to see someone go from Double-A to the Majors.<\/p>\n The Rangers also invited three other notable hitting prospects: Trevor Hauver<\/a>, Aaron Zavala<\/a>, and Cameron Cauley<\/a>.<\/p>\n Hauver, 27, was a former third-round pick by the Yankees back in 2020. He was one of four players that Texas acquired in the Joey Gallo<\/a> trade but the only one of the bunch to not play in the Majors. Last season with Triple-A Round Rock, Hauver slashed .275\/.391\/.446 with 12 home runs and 35 extra-base hits across 104 games.<\/p>\n Zavala was a second-round pick by the Rangers in 2021. The 25-year-old was stuck in Triple-A for three seasons, as he spent all of 2023 and 2024 with the Roughriders, and most of 2025 in Frisco before he was promoted to Round Rock. Zavala posted a .779 OPS in Double-A this past season. Below-average Whiff% (30.6%).<\/p>\n Cauley, a third-round pick in 2021, is a toolsy infielder with speed and power. This past season with Frisco, Cauley picked up 48 extra-base hits, 15 of which were home runs. However, high Whiff% (30.2%) and more of an aggressive hitter.<\/p>\n Additionally, pitchers Ryan Lobus<\/a>, Josh Trentadue<\/a>, Eric Loomis<\/a>, and Dalton Pence<\/a> will join the big leaguers.<\/p>\n Other notables<\/p>\n The Rangers previously announced<\/a> several non-roster invites back in December.<\/p>\n Catchers Jose Herrera<\/a> and Cooper Johnson<\/a>, the former of whom is an ex-Diamondback, will be among the position players. Former first-round pick Richie Martin<\/a>, Jonah Bride<\/a>, Tyler Wade<\/a>, and Andrew Velazquez<\/a> are also part of that infield group.<\/p>\n Two of the top swing-and-miss pitchers in the Texas League last season, Gavin Collyer<\/a> (30.4%) and Trey Supak<\/a> (29.3%), will look to make it on Texas\u2019 Opening Day roster after pitching for Frisco last year.
