They are scheduled to play their first spring training game on February 21.

When we woke up on Friday, everything at Target Field seemed to be unfolding mostly according to plan. Sure, they’ve mostly acted as pretend buyers, mostly making moves around the edges, to try and improve a roster that needs much more than that.

That shouldn’t be surprising, though. Nobody expected the MN Twins to be anything else this offseason. We all know they Pohlads are too cheap to be real buyers, no matter what they promised at the Winter Meetings.

Derek Falvey and Minnesota Twins “mutually agree to part ways”

On the other hand, nobody expected what happened this morning at 1 Twins Way. According to a statement released by the team, the Minnesota Twins and president Derek Falvey have “mutually agreed to part ways”.

In his place will be new Twins GM, Jeremy Zoll. Tom Pohlad — who took over at the top of the family baseball tree recently for his younger brother Joe — will “take over business operations” for Falvey.

Minnesota Twins and Derek Falvey Mutually Agree to Part Ways pic.twitter.com/ILxMXy1AZl

— Minnesota Twins (@Twins) January 30, 2026

MINNESOTA TWINS AND DEREK FALVEY MUTUALLY AGREE TO PART WAYS

The Minnesota Twins today announced that the club and former President, Baseball and Business Operations Derek Falvey have mutually agreed to part ways. Executive Vice President, General Manager Jeremy Zoll will continue leading the Twins’ baseball department. Executive Chair Tom Pohlad will assume interim oversight of the club’s business operations.

Falvey was hired as the Twins’ Executive Vicens WIN! President, Chief Baseball Officer in October 2016 and was named President, Baseball Operations in 2019. He was elevated to President, Baseball and Business Operations on March 3, 2025. During Falvey’s tenure, the Twins posted a 690-666 (.509) record for the 13th-most wins in Major League Baseball over the past nine seasons. His clubs reached the Postseason four times, winning the American League Wild Card in 2017 and the American League Central Division in 2019, 2020 and 2023.

Official Minnesota Twins statement on parting ways with Derek Falvey

Tom Pohlad walking instead of talking…?

Last week, Tom Pohlad spoke with reporters and did a lot of talking about how he wants things to be different under this leadership. At the time, I told him to stop talking the talk and start walking the walk… so maybe this is exactly that.

Derek Falvey took over as Minnesota Twins president of baseball operations in 2017. He was promoted to president of baseball and business operations in 2024. He never really took over the business side, however.

Instead, the “retired” Dave St. Peter has handled the minority owners coming in, along with most other business activities. Now, that stuff will apparently fall on Tom Pohlad… at least for now.

Mentioned in this article: Derek Falvey

More About:Minnesota Twins

Add MinnesotaSportsFan as a preferred source on Google.

Credit: Kim Klement Neitzel-Imagn Images The Minnesota Twins are preparing for the start of 2026 spring training in…

[2388
5,7045,822,60,3190,4,148
0":"post-546144","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-minnesota-twins","8":"tag-baseball","9":"tag-derek-falvey","10":"tag-minnesota","11":"tag-minnesota-twins","12":"tag-minnesotatwins","13":"tag-mlb","14":"tag-twins
["GET
