After making several moves to bolster the pitching staff, it appears as if the lineup could benefit from the addition of another big bat or two.

To this point, the Sox have struck on pretty much every hitter they have targeted this offseason. Kyle Schwarber, Pete Alonso, Alex Bregman and Bo Bichette all signed elsewhere in free agency, and the team failed to acquire Arizona Diamondbacks’ second baseman Ketel Marte before he was taken off the trade block.

The Red Sox still have tons of assets that could be utilized on the trade market, making that their most-likely avenue for acquiring a big bat. According to MLB insider Jeff Passan of ESPN, he thinks Boston still has at least one more big move in them this offseason, with Houston Astros’ third baseman Isaac Paredes standing out to him as a potential target.

“I think the Red Sox have another move in them, yes,” Passan wrote. “I’m not sure, even though they seem to match up with the Cubs, that there’s anything in the cards there. Still think Isaac Paredes would fit, but Houston could instead move Christian Walker.”

After losing Bregman to the Chicago Cubs, Boston could use some more help in their infield. Paredes would be a solid fit, as he has experience playing a third, second and first base throughout his career. A two-time All-Star. Paredes is fresh off hitting .254 with 20 home runs and 53 RBIs in 102 games with Houston last season.

Story continues below advertisement

Whether or not the Astros will actually trade Paredes, though, remains to be seen. The Red Sox may have to go above and beyond to get him, but it’s fair to wonder if he is a player worth that sort of investment. For now, all is quiet on the trade front, but you can bet Boston’s front office is hard at work looking for deals that will improve its team.

The Boston Red Sox have made several big moves this offseason, but it still feels like the front…

[3
5,893,4
0":"post-547746","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-mlb","8":"tag-baseball","9":"tag-isaac-paredes","10":"tag-mlb
["GET
