As the Phillies lost Ranger Suarez, keeping the other above-average left-hander would be a wise idea.<\/p>\n<p>Appearing as a guest on \u201cPhillies Extra,\u201d Luzardo spoke about his mindset and why the idea of a long-term deal in Philadelphia is something he\u2019d be open to.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not something that I\u2019m closed off to,\u201d Luzardo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/phillies\/jesus-luzardo-contract-extension-free-agency-podcast-20260113.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:said;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">said<\/a>. \u201cI just got married and hopefully eventually have a family, and just being stable in a certain place, knowing that you\u2019re comfortable within an organization \u2026 it\u2019s something I would be really interested in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an organization that I had a really good time in,\u201d Luzardo said. \u201cI love the city, I loved where I lived, and the organization as a whole, how they treat us as players, how they treated my family. But at the end of the day, it\u2019s not entirely up to me or in my hands.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>From the organization\u2019s perspective, the interest appears mutual, but nothing has been done about it just yet.<\/p>\n<p>Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski has spoken positively about Luzardo on multiple occasions, showing that he likes him. However, according to The Athletic\u2019s Charlotte Varnes, that interest hasn\u2019t translated into negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski has publicly expressed interest in extending Luzardo a couple of times,\u201d Varnes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7008392\/2026\/01\/30\/phillies-roster-justin-crawford-jesus-luzardo\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:reported;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">reported<\/a>. \u201cBut, per recent interviews with Luzardo, the parties have not had conversations about an extension.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For the Phillies, flexibility remains important.
