Welcome to our new February Daily Question series. Throughout the month, we\u2019ll be posting question articles every day in the hopes that we can start some more conversations within the Brew Crew Ball community. To begin, we\u2019re asking, \u201cWhat\u2019s the strongest reason to believe this season won\u2019t be a waste?\u201d<\/p>\n
Now, I\u2019ll be the first to say that \u201crebuild year\u201d doesn\u2019t seem to be in the Brewers\u2019 \u2014 specifically Matt Arnold\u2019s \u2014 vocabulary. But it seems almost too good to be true that Milwaukee can avoid having any rebuild seasons for nearly a decade. That\u2019s typically the stuff of high-payroll franchises like the Yankees and Dodgers.<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s exactly what Arnold & Co. have done. The Brewers have played virtually no \u201cmeaningless\u201d baseball since 2017 \u2014 the only season they\u2019ve missed the playoffs since 2018 was in 2022, when they remained in wild card contention until the last series of the season and ultimately finished just one game back of the Phillies for the last playoff spot.<\/p>\n
They can\u2019t keep getting away with it, can they?<\/p>\n
With Freddy Peralta just the latest \u201csacrifice\u201d in a long line of trades to reload Milwaukee\u2019s prospect depth, can Arnold, Pat Murphy, and the Brewers work their magic once again? Is there reason to believe this is the rebuild year, or will the \u201cbites of the apple\u201d approach continue to work?<\/p>\n
