{"id":551292,"date":"2026-02-03T00:23:21","date_gmt":"2026-02-03T00:23:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/551292\/"},"modified":"2026-02-03T00:23:21","modified_gmt":"2026-02-03T00:23:21","slug":"frank-thomas-slams-white-sox-for-black-history-month-post","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/551292\/","title":{"rendered":"Frank Thomas slams White Sox for Black History Month post"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Big Hurt is a little hurt \u2014 and rightfully so.<\/p>\n<p>When the Chicago White Sox social media team designed a graphic to honor Black History Month, they omitted one of the most famous Black players in franchise history: Frank Thomas.<\/p>\n<p>MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebiglead.com\/hall-of-fame-baseball-coach-who-guided-team-usa-to-olympic-gold-dies\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hall of Fame baseball coach who guided Team USA to Olympic gold dies<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Thomas, who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on his first BBWAA ballot appearance in 2014, won two American League MVP awards, hit 448 home runs, and drove in 1,465 runs for the White Sox from 1990-2005.<\/p>\n<p>Yet despite being one of the most feared sluggers of his era, Thomas couldn\u2019t buy a spot on the graphic posted to the White Sox\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/whitesox\/status\/2017979152255660082\" rel=\"nofollow\">Twitter<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DUOE1uQDSEn\/?img_index=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram<\/a> accounts. Two posts honoring former general manager Ken Williams, the first Black GM in major league history, are included in the timeline of Thomas\u2019 era.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI Guess the black player who made you rich over there and holds all your records is forgettable!\u201d Thomas <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/thebighurt_35\/status\/2017997339139407941?s=46\" rel=\"nofollow\">wrote on Twitter\/X<\/a>. \u201cDon\u2019t worry I\u2019m taking Receipts!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thomas holds the White Sox franchise records for career home runs, RBIs, runs (1,327), doubles (447), extra-base hits (906), walks (1,466), slugging percentage, (.568) and on-base percentage (.427).
