With spring training pretty much here, the Philadelphia Phillies could still use another arm or two. Even after putting together a decent rotation on paper, there\u2019s a growing sense that the front office could still look for an upgrade, especially if the right arm becomes available at the right price. FanSided\u2019s Matt Davis believes the Philadelphia Phillies could possibly make a move for right-hander Zac Gallen, a free agent of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Gallen should be rather cheap for who he is, but not too cheap.<\/p>\n

Davis\u2019 words highlight why Gallen is such a compelling option. A short time ago, he was viewed as one of the top starters in baseball, but had a rough year in 2025. A down stretch has quieted his market, but the stuff is still very good and to me, he\u2019d be a steal.<\/p>\n

Gallen is a classic buy-low candidate, as he\u2019s a pitcher with a proven track record who may benefit from a change of scenery and a chance to win. The Phillies\u2019 rotation also wouldn\u2019t need him to be an ace.<\/p>\n

The local connection also adds intrigue. Gallen\u2019s New Jersey roots would make a move to Philadelphia something he wants to do.
