The Los Angeles Dodgers made a roster move Tuesday, claiming outfielder Michael Siani off waivers and designating infielder Andy Ibanez for assignment.<\/p>\n
The Dodgers signed Ibanez to a major league deal worth $1.2 million Jan. 13, and designated Siani for assignment just a few days later to make room on the roster for All-Star Kyle Tucker. Siani joined the New York Yankees, though they also placed him on waivers after acquiring Angel Chivilli in a trade with the Los Angeles Angels.<\/p>\n

Siani joined the Dodgers earlier in the offseason, with L.A. claiming him off waivers from the Atlanta Braves.<\/p>\n

What Does This Move Mean for the Dodgers?<\/p>\n
While this move is puzzling at first, the Dodgers dropping an infielder onto waivers could be good news for Tommy Edman\u2019s recovery.<\/p>\n
Edman struggled with an ankle injury in 2025, and got surgery at the beginning of the offseason. If the Dodgers are willing to drop depth in their infield, Edman could return to the team by Opening Day.<\/p>\n
The infielder recently gave an update on his health following the prodcedure.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe timetable is more just kind of as I progress,\u201d Edman said at DodgerFest Saturday.<\/a> \u201cSo, it\u2019s kind of hard to to say exactly when I\u2019ll be ready to, you know, hop back in a Major League game again. As of right now, this past week, I just took dry swings for the first time and then started my throwing progression again.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n \u201cI got the boot off like two and a half weeks ago. The last two and a half weeks I\u2019ve been working into walking and pushing off it more. I got into like light skipping this week. Hopefully jogging next this next week. So you know, that\u2019s kind of where I\u2019m at right now and each step along the way, it\u2019s kind of just being patient and making sure I\u2019m hitting all the checkpoints with with no discomfort.
