Obviously, there’s no clear reason, but for me, just having that stability that I know I could do it because I want to, I want to put up the numbers. I want to help the team. I want to make history here. So for me, it’s important to achieve that now,” said Ramirez through his interpreter, Auggie Rivero, last week.

<img alt="Jul 20, 2025; Cleveland, Ohio, USA; Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez (11) celebrates after a bare-handed play during the seventh inning against the Athletics at Progressive Field. My sons were born here, so I take that pride of the city, and what it represents to me.”

Even though Ramirez just signed this recent extension to all but officially make him a Guardian for life, he’s known for a long time that this is where he wanted to spend his entire career.

“Since I signed the first contract, I felt that something came to my mind, that that would be my goal to try to complete my career here,” continued Ramirez.

“Because let’s not forget, I was rejected plenty of times when I was a player.
