The Boston Red Sox<\/a> have made plenty of upgrades to their team this offseason, but they have yet to replace one crucial thing: Alex Bregman. By letting him walk, Boston now has to find a bat and glove to replace him.<\/p>\n

However, there might be two trade candidates to deal for that could act as stopgaps. According to MLB insider Jon Morosi<\/a>, those two are Houston Astros<\/a> All-Star Isaac Paredes, and Chicago Cubs<\/a> Gold Glove Nico Hoerner.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe one team that would certainly have interest and need for either Paredes or Hoerner would be the Boston Red Sox. I checked in on the Paredes trade possibility last night, and was told nothing was hot at the moment for Paredes to Boston. Hoerner again, is a really strong candidate of course. He is a little more available than he normally would be, because of the Cubs acquiring Alex Bregman\u2026Nico Hoerner is an Alex Cora type of player. If there\u2019s going to be a trade for Boston, I would say Hoerner is a better fit,\u201d Morosi said.<\/p>\n

This past season, Paredes finished 2025 slashing .254\/.352\/.458\/.809 with 15 doubles, 20 home runs, and 53 RBI in 102 games played. As for Hoerner, slashed .297\/.345\/.394\/.739 with 29 doubles, seven home runs, and 61 RBI in 156 games played.<\/p>\n

Paredes would bring a power bat to Boston, which would be juiced up due to the Green Monster, and could take over third base. Hoerner, on the other hand, brings arguably the best glove at second base in the MLB, plus a great contact bat. He\u2019d also fill the void at second base left by Dustin Pedroia.<\/p>\n

Either candidate could work. All that really matters is that the Red Sox don\u2019t repeat the same mistake they did with Bregman, and work with whoever they get to sign an extension immediately.<\/p>\n
