They’ve added talent to their pitching staff with Ranger Suarez, Sonny Gray, and Johan Oviedo.

Offensively, while they lost Alex Bregman, they went out and added Willson Contreras, and just recently, agreed to a $6 million deal with Isiah Kiner-Falefa.

But what’s next for the Red Sox? According to Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic, the Red Sox have a plan to continue upgrading the offense this offseason, even after the IFK pickup.

Red Sox still seeking offensive upgrades after IFK deal

“Boston is still on the hunt for more offense,” McCaffrey writes, “and according to a team source, the Red Sox are still seeking to add another bat with less than a week before Spring Training begins.”

Boston’s front office, led by Craig Breslow, is looking to bolster its offense this offseason. Contreras and Kiner-Falefa aren’t the only upgrades they’re planning to make this offseason.

While the exact nature of such an upgrade isn’t known, finding a better offensive presence for the infield would be nice. IFK is likely to take over one of the holes in their infield, but the Red Sox could still use an upgrade over him this offseason.

Someone like Isaac Paredes of the Houston Astros would be great, as would Matt Shaw or Nico Hoerner. All three are difficult to trade for, but the Red Sox could try to force a deal through using one of their outfielders and their abundant pitching depth.

More: Red Sox sign $6 million free agent formerly of Yankees, Blue Jays

But if the Red Sox don’t elect to add a star infielder, they could turn to a right-handed hitting outfielder.
