{"id":557322,"date":"2026-02-06T06:16:31","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T06:16:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/557322\/"},"modified":"2026-02-06T06:16:31","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T06:16:31","slug":"keith-hernandez-officially-inks-new-contract-to-remain-at-sny","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/557322\/","title":{"rendered":"Keith Hernandez officially inks new contract to remain at SNY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SNY\u2019s popular Mets announcing trio will live on.<\/p>\n<p>In the days before pitchers and catchers officially report to spring training, Keith Hernandez agreed to a three-year contract to return to the booth, with the deal being finalized on Thursday, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NYPost_Mets\/status\/2019588694689345676\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The Post\u2019s Mike Puma reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In October, Hernandez revealed to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/29\/sports\/keith-hernandez-reveals-what-hes-looking-for-in-new-sny-deal\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Post\u2019s Jon Heyman and Joel Sherman<\/a> that he wanted a three-year contract with the network and that he was not ready to give up his analyst gig just yet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not ready to retire,\u201d Hernandez said on \u201cThe Show\u201d podcast then. \u201cIf I do another three years, they\u2019ve always been three-year deals, and then the three-year deal will take me to 75. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just turned 72 and I\u2019m ready to do another three.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38404927\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/gary-cohen-ron-darling-keith-101048327.jpg\" alt=\"Gary Cohen, Ron Darling, and Keith Hernandez celebrate 20 years on SNY in a broadcast booth overlooking a baseball stadium.\" class=\"wp-image-38404927\"  \/>Gary Cohen, Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez celebrate 20 years on SNY. SNY<\/p>\n<p>Hernandez has been a key part of the SNY broadcast alongside play-by-play man Gary Cohen and former Mets teammate Ron Darling since the 2006 season after previously working Mets games on MSG. <\/p>\n<p>He has won three Emmys (2009, 2012, 2015) for his work in the booth.<\/p>\n<p>Despite being in negotiations with SNY during the offseason, Hernandez was vocal about the Mets\u2019 moves during free agency, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/11\/sports\/keith-hernandez-left-speechless-by-pete-alonsos-mets-exit\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">saying that he was left \u201cspeechless\u201d<\/a> after Pete Alonso left the team for a deal with the Orioles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a little bit speechless,\u201d he said during an appearance on \u201cSportsNite\u201d in December. \u201cThis is very explosive. In the years that I\u2019ve been with the Mets, I have not seen this kind of moving in a new direction, I guess.
