The Chicago White Sox<\/a> announced they agreed to a one-year, $6 million deal with outfielder Austin Hays<\/a>, which includes an $8 mutual option for 2027 or a $1 million buyout.<\/p>\n

Hays, an All-Star for the Baltimore Orioles<\/a> in 2023, batted .266 with 15 home runs and a .768 OPS in 416 plate appearances in 2025 for the Cincinnati Reds<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hays, who turns 31 in July, joins a White Sox outfield that includes former Madeira High School standout Andrew Benintendi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Reds announced in Nov. 2025<\/a> they declined their contract options on Hays, as well as relief pitchers Brent Suter and Scott Barlow. Suter reportedly is nearing<\/a> a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Angels<\/a>.<\/p>\n
