With the 2026 World Baseball Classic set to begin in March, the preliminary roster for Nicaragua is here. Initial rosters are subject to change. Read on below for our team summary and breakdown of top players and prospects to know.<\/p>\n

Team Summary: The previous WBC in 2023 was the first time Nicaragua made it to the World Baseball Classic, representing a major milestone in the small country\u2019s baseball history. They went 0-for-4 in that tournament, so winning even one game in 2026 would be a monumental achievement given the talent in Pool D. The team is managed by Dusty Baker, but it has little MLB presence on the roster and will be relying on mainly players from their domestic league.<\/p>\n

Top Players: Mark Vientos is the most experienced player on the roster. In 121 games with the Mets last season, he hit .233 with 17 home runs and 61 RBIs. Carlos Rodriguez made his MLB debut with the Brewers in 2024 but has only played in seven games total in MLB. The righthander had a 3.82 ERA and 82 strikeouts in Triple-A Nashville last season.<\/p>\n

Best Prospects: Freddy Zamora<\/a> is knocking on the door of the majors for the Brewers. The 27-year-old slashed .257\/.353\/.348 with four home runs and 46 RBIs in 104 games at Triple-A Nashville.<\/p>\n
