The start of spring training is only days away, but the Boston Red Sox have been busy this week. <\/p>\n
The Red Sox have bolstered their infield depth over the last few days. On Wednesday, they reportedly agreed to a one-year, $6 million deal<\/a> with Isiah Kiner-Falefa. On Thursday, they reportedly signed Brendan Rodgers<\/a> to a Minor League deal.<\/p>\n Both veterans are former Gold Glove winners with the potential to improve Boston\u2019s infield defense. Both are also below-average hitters, however, leaving the Red Sox weak offensively in the infield following Alex Bregman\u2019s departure<\/a>.<\/p>\n The offseason isn\u2019t over yet, however, and Boston still has time to make moves<\/a>.<\/p>\n On Friday, The Boston Globe\u2018s Peter Abraham reported on Bluesky<\/a> that the Red Sox are \u201cstill trying to make a prospect-based trade for a legit bat.\u201d<\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n Given Boston\u2019s outfield logjam<\/a>, that bat would likely be in the infield. The Red Sox also seem to be trying to move prospects to avoid weakening their Major League roster.<\/p>\n Unfortunately for Boston, there isn\u2019t much time or options left at this point in the winter.
