Schneider, meanwhile, is under contract for four more seasons.

More: MLB Hot Stove tracker: Live updates on news, rumors, signings and trades for 2025 free agency

The Cardinals, in a trade for Schneider, would more likely need to give up more than just Romero. While the Blue Jays need a lefty in their bullpen, Romero, whose 2.07 ERA season might be a fluke, likely won’t be enough.

But, if it is enough to land Schneider, as Schoenfield is proposing, it would be a massive coup for the Cardinals and Bloom this offseason.

Schneider has a .797 OPS this past season in 82 games. While he wasn’t the best in 2024, with a .625 OPS in 135 games, he’s still a good trade piece that would be very valuable to the Cardinals.

This proposal from Schoenfield would be a dream trade for Bloom and the Cardinals. Adding someone like Schneider, who’s only 27 years old and under club control for the next four years, for a one-year rental of Romero, a reliever, would be a no-brainer for S.t Louis.

More MLB news:

Cardinals trade proposal swaps 2.07 ERA lefty reliever for Blue Jays .797 OPS outfielder originally appeared on The…

[2378
124,5,377,2554,4492,160,10149,28384,13860,8534,4,1028,1587,282,70,2553,4164,396,409
0":"post-562087","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-toronto-blue-jays","8":"tag-austin-hays","9":"tag-baseball","10":"tag-blue-jays","11":"tag-bluejays","12":"tag-brendan-donovan","13":"tag-cardinals","14":"tag-chaim-bloom","15":"tag-david-schoenfield","16":"tag-davis-schneider","17":"tag-jojo-romero","18":"tag-mlb","19":"tag-nolan-arenado","20":"tag-sonny-gray","21":"tag-toronto","22":"tag-toronto-blue-jays","23":"tag-torontobluejays","24":"tag-trade","25":"tag-white-sox","26":"tag-willson-contreras
["GET
