Veteran starting pitcher Chris Paddack<\/a>, who had a brief and unsuccessful tenure with the Detroit Tigers last season, has signed a major-league contract with the Miami Marlins.<\/p>\n

The one-year deal is reportedly worth $4 million<\/a> plus incentives. <\/p>\n

Paddack, 30, was acquired from the Minnesota Twins at the trade deadline last summer but was removed from the rotation after a string of poor starts.<\/p>\n

A former top prospect, Paddack has battled injuries, including two Tommy John surgeries, since a strong rookie season in 2019 with the San Diego Padres. He posted a 4.95 ERA with a 4.39 FIP in 111 innings over 21 starts with the Twins in 2025.<\/p>\n

To acquire Paddack, the Tigers sent young catching prospect Enrique Jimenez to the Twins<\/a> and agreed to take on the salary of veteran pitcher Randy Dobnak.<\/p>\n

Paddack went 2-3 with a 6.32 ERA (6.41 FIP) in 47 innings for the Tigers. He did not pitch in the postseason.<\/p>\n

Paddack was originally drafted by the Marlins out of high school in the eighth round in 2015.
