The Atlanta Braves<\/a> are gearing up for Spring Training, just like every other team in MLB. Their offseason has gone quite smoothly, as they\u2019ve been able to re-sign the players they needed. Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos knows the team still needs another starter, but ideally one with playoff experience.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve explored the starting rotation, adding and getting some type of starter, whether that\u2019s a trade or signing. We\u2019d like for it to be someone impactful, someone we think can start a playoff game,\u201d Anthopoulos said.<\/p>\n

The Braves\u2019 first move of the offseason was acquiring veteran outfielder Mike Yastrzemski, which helped set the tone for a strong winter from the front office. Landing Yastrzemski was significant, especially considering he can serve as an everyday outfielder.<\/p>\n

\u201cOutfielder Mike Yastrzemski and the Atlanta Braves agreed Wednesday to a $23 million, two-year contract that includes a 2028 club option with the potential to make the deal worth $26 million over three seasons. The 35-year-old hit .233 with 17 home runs and 46 RBIs in 146 games last season for San Francisco and Kansas City,\u201d ESPN wrote.<\/a><\/p>\n

Atlanta may not be finished adding veteran outfield depth. Braves reporter Grant McAuley believes the team should explore a deal with Andrew McCutchen.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the Braves could step in and add Andrew McCutchen as an extra outfielder and hedge for Mike Yastrzemski, that would check a few boxes and add a respected veteran to the mix for 2026,\u201d McAuley wrote.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Braves likely wouldn\u2019t use McCutchen heavily, instead relying on him primarily to give players occasional rest. However, he would provide valuable veteran leadership, something the Braves clubhouse has lacked to some extent.<\/p>\n

McCutchen is nearing the end of his career, but joining Atlanta would give him a legitimate chance to reach the World Series. While it may not be a move he ultimately pursues, there\u2019s a scenario where he could finish his career with the Braves if a deal comes together.<\/p>\n
