WAYNE –\u00a0\u00a0Wayne State tallied two more wins Sunday afternoon with a come from behind win against Chadron State 4-3 and a win over Nebraska Kearney, 4-2.<\/p>\n

WSC starts the season 4-0 for the second straight season.<\/p>\n

In the first game for the ‘Cats, Chadron State took advantage of multiple errors and scored three runs.<\/p>\n

The Eagles pitcher put down the first six Wildcat batters before Reagan Dreibelbis earned a walk to open the third inning. Masyn Bunnell would reach on a fielder’s choice, being only the second WSC player to reach first base.<\/p>\n

Wayne States first score came from an Emilee Marth single to center that allowed Jordyn Klein to score. Klein worked her way around the bases off a bunt, stolen base, and sacrifice fly.<\/p>\n

Kennadi Borngrebe reached on an error by the Eagles infield, which also allowed Marth to score, and Maddie Scobee moved to third with the tying run.<\/p>\n

Taylor Coleman stepped up to the plate and hit a single that saw both runners score the tying and go ahead run to give WSC their first lead of the contest, 4-3.<\/p>\n

With Borngrebe in the circle, she would strike out three batters, leaving a lone Eagle stranded and earning her second win of the season.<\/p>\n

Borngrebe ended with seven strikeouts and transfer J<\/a>adeyn Stahr recorded four.<\/p>\n

Wayne State jumped out to a quick 4-0 start in the second game against the Lopers of UNK. Scobee doubled to right and earned an RBI as Klein scored the first run for WSC.<\/p>\n

Borngrebe singled to follow up and allowed Scobee to move to third base. Coleman would hit a single out to center and a fielding error would allow Scobee and Borngrebe to score.<\/p>\n

Coleman added the fourth run after Lillie Timm singled to right center. Kearney would score two runs in the top of the fourth inning to make it a 4-2 ball game.<\/p>\n

WSC would have chances to added insurance runs in the fourth and sixth but were unable to take advantage of baserunners in scoring position.<\/p>\n

Stahr reentered to pitch for the ‘Cats midway through and would close out the contest in the final inning, forcing three Lopers into a pair of fly outs and a ground out, giving WSC a 4-2 victory.<\/p>\n

Stahr finished her day with five strikeouts and only four hits allowed. Klein and Coleman each had three hits; Klein added two runs scored and Coleman had a pair of RBIs.<\/p>\n

Wayne State will be in Sioux Center, Iowa February 11th taking on the Defenders of Dordt University.
