However, Getz seems content with the roster he\u2019s constructed, saying, \u201cWe do feel good about the group we have in here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe\u2019ve got flexibility, we do. Signing one of their young players to a contract extension, like the Athletics are doing with their core, signing four players in the last two years: <\/p>\n<p>DH Brent Rooker: five years, $60 million<br \/>\nOF Lawrence Butler: seven years, $65.5 million<br \/>\nOF Tyler Soderstrom: seven years, $86 million<br \/>\nINF Jacob Wilson: seven years, $70 million<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Athletics have signed four players to longterm extensions since last offseason <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/9i0lXBmMwt\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/9i0lXBmMwt<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Talkin&#8217; Baseball (@TalkinBaseball_) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TalkinBaseball_\/status\/2017330725175882170?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">January 30, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Infielder Colson Montgomery (.239 average, .840 OPS) and right-hander Shane Smith (3.81 ERA) would be the first two players to look at to sign long-term. Montgomery showed the ability to be a franchise player, and Smith made the All-Star team in his rookie season. <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Catchers Kyle Teel and Edgar Quero could be others worthy of an extension, with both showing the ability to hit \u2014 Teel batted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/t\/teelky01.shtml\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">.273<\/a> with an OPS of .786 in 78 games, while Quero (switch hitter) hit .268 with an OPS of .689 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/q\/queroed01.shtml\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">111 games<\/a>. The White Sox could also acquire a player at the trade deadline who is under a long-term contract to help increase payroll. <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Someone like the Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Mitch Keller (five years, $77 million) could be an option to give the White Sox another experienced arm.
