Thirty-seven-year-old pitcher Phillippe Aumont appears to be making a comeback.<\/p>\n

According to his MLB.com transactions page<\/a>, the Canadian right-hander is coming out of retirement and joining the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> on a minor-league deal. <\/p>\n

A native of Gatineau, Que., Aumont is on Canada\u2019s roster for next month\u2019s World Baseball Classic and has worn the Maple Leaf several times in international competition.<\/p>\n

Aumont last pitched in the big leagues during the 2015 season with the Philadelphia Phillies<\/a> and most recently played affiliated ball in the Detroit Tigers<\/a>\u2019 system in 2018, recording a 6.23 ERA in 31 games combined between Double and Triple-A.<\/p>\n

Selected in the first round of the 2007 MLB Draft (No. 11 overall) by the Seattle Mariners<\/a>, Aumont was one of three players dealt to the Phillies in a deal involving former Cy Young winner Cliff Lee in 2009.<\/p>\n

Aumont made his debut with the Phillies in 2012 and pitched parts of four seasons with the organization, turning in a 6.80 ERA in 46 total outings.<\/p>\n
