Detmers will be paid $2.625 million by the Angels rather than the $2.925 million figure that Detmers and his camp submitted.

Reid Detmers has lost his arbitration hearing against the Angels, per source. Detmers will earn $2.625 million in 2026; he had filed at $2.925 million.

— Mark Feinsand (@Feinsand) February 11, 2026

Detmers, who is coming off a solid season in which he posted a 3.96 ERA across 63.2 innings, saw his role change for the first time in his major league career, making the transition from a starter to a reliever.

Detmers was effective as a reliever, striking out 30% of the batters he faced this past season. This comes as Detmers is coming off his best year since 2022, when he was still seen as a promising starter and the next reliable pitcher to come out of the Angels organization in a long time.

Detmers, who was originally drafted with the 10th overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, was expected to provide the Angels with a frontline starter during a period when the organization lacked rotation depth. 2022 was the year in which he posted a 3.77 ERA across 25 starts and 129 innings.

This is also the same year in which Detmers recorded his no-hitter against the Tampa Bay Rays in May, the 12th no-hitter in franchise history, and the first complete game of his career.

Safe to say, the Angels likely thought they were getting their next really good starter since the Jered Weaver era. Still, even after a promising year, struggles began to pile up, as Detmers was never able to find that same level of success until he eventually made the transition from being a starter to a reliever.

Even with the newfound success, the Angels are expected to use Detmers as a reliever once again this upcoming season, though he currently projects as the No. 3 starter in the Angels’ rotation behind Yusei Kikuchi and José Soriano.

Likely, the Angels will be relying on a few reclamation projects to work in their favor, as they also brought in Grayson Rodriguez, a former top prospect, and Alek Manoah, a former All-Star in 2022, to help fill out the rotation.

Nevertheless, Detmers was the only player to have an arbitration hearing this past offseason. His loss is just the second out of nine cases announced so far.

ANAHEIM — The Los Angeles Angels have won their arbitration hearing regarding Reid Detmers, as reported by Mark…

[2390
291,5,44345,1165,446,3223,774,56,3224,3222,19,4,169,3923
0":"post-566063","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-los-angeles-angels","8":"tag-angels","9":"tag-baseball","10":"tag-kurt-suzuki","11":"tag-la","12":"tag-la-angels","13":"tag-laangels","14":"tag-los-angeles","15":"tag-los-angeles-angels","16":"tag-losangeles","17":"tag-losangelesangels","18":"tag-major-league-baseball","19":"tag-mlb","20":"tag-news","21":"tag-reid-detmers
["GET
