In a post to social media, the 33-year-old athlete posted a five-photo Instagram carousel<\/a>, with four of the slides showing a handwritten letter in which he explained his version of events while also thanking those who have supported his journey in the sport.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n \u201cDave [Dombrowski], thank you for the opportunity,\u201d he wrote in the lengthy letter. \u201cStaff, thank you for helping me prepare.\u201d<\/p>\n Castellanos also thanked his teammates, saying, \u201cPlaying with you all will be a core memory for the rest of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n Additionally, he thanked the fans \u201cfor showing up these past 4 years.\u201d He said whether they were \u201capplauding or booing\u201d they \u201cwere there.\u201d<\/p>\n In another slide, Castellanos addressed the \u201cMiami Incident.\u201d<\/p>\n His letter claimed that he\u2019d been tipped off by a friend that \u201cthere is an article waiting to come out without my consent or comments about this situation,\u201d prompting his decision to speak out.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m a veteran of the game of baseball there are rules and I broke one in Miami,\u201d Castellanos said.<\/p>\n He explained that the situation unfolded after being ejected from a \u201cclose game in front of my friends and family.\u201d The former Phillies player then admitted to bringing a beer into the dugout.<\/p>\n \u201cI then sat right next to [Phillies manager] Rob [Thomson] and let him know that too much slack in some areas and to tight of restrictions in others are not conducive to us winning.\u201d<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Brian Rothmuller\/Icon Sportswire via Getty<\/p>\n Castellanos said that his teammates took the beer away from him before he was able to have a sip, which he appreciated.<\/p>\n He then alleged that when the game ended, he met with Dombrowski and Thomson.<\/p>\n \u201cWe aired out our differences and the conversation ended with me apologizing for letting my emotions get the best of me,\u201d Castellanos wrote, adding, \u201cI would like to note, that I was ready to share the details of the incident in its entirety to the media the next day but was instructed not to by management.\u201d<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Never miss a story \u2014 sign up for PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter<\/a> to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer\u200b\u200b, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.<\/p>\n He alleged he was benched for the next game as punishment.<\/p>\n \u201cI know a lot is being said about this incident in Miami,\u201d Dombrowski said, per the MLB. \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s necessarily one incident.
