CLEARWATER, FL – The No. 11 Nebraska softball team allowed no runs and downed the No. 12 LSU Tigers, 6-0, on Thursday in Clearwater.<\/p>\n
With the win, the Huskers moved to 4-2 on the season with two wins over ranked teams so far. LSU fell to 6-1.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alexis Jensen\u00a0grabbed the win in the circle after tossing 4.0 scoreless innings with just one hit and seven strikeouts.\u00a0Jordy Frahm\u00a0came in to close out the game and struck out four in 3.0 innings.<\/p>\n
Offensively, Frahm went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a double.\u00a0Jesse Farrell,\u00a0Hannah Camenzind\u00a0and\u00a0Samantha Bland\u00a0added a double apiece while\u00a0Ava Kuszak,\u00a0Emmerson Cope\u00a0and\u00a0Lauren Camenzind\u00a0each had a hit.\u00a0<\/p>\n
H. Camenzind singled in the top of the third and scored on a two-out Farrell double to give NU a 1-0 edge.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Cope singled to open the top of the fourth and Hoffmann reached and went to second on an LSU throwing error, which also scored\u00a0Katelyn Caneda, who pinch ran for Cope. Hoffmann crossed the plate on a Bland sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 3-0. L. Camenzind walked and Frahm and H. Camenzind hit back-to-back doubles to make the score 5-0.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bland doubled in the top of the sixth and scored on a Frahm single up the middle to extend the lead to 6-0.<\/p>\n
The Huskers will take on No. 20 Georgia later this afternoon at 3 p.m. (CT).
