The Red Sox won the 2018 World Series, but not without some clubhouse crossfire.<\/p>\n

Postseason hero and longtime Boston infielder Brock Holt revealed an incident from that season in which a teammate allegedly said he would bring a gun to the field and \u201ckill\u201d the entire team.<\/p>\n

Holt was a guest on the \u201cSection 10 Podcast\u201d on Thursday<\/a> when they discussed Rafael Devers\u2019 unceremonious exit from Boston<\/a>, leading to a broader discourse on the importance of clubhouse chemistry.<\/p>\n

Brock Holt spent seven seasons with the Red Sox. Paul J. Bereswill<\/p>\n

This ultimately led to Holt addressing the 2018 team.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a guy or two in \u201918 like that, and we got rid of them,\u201d Holt began.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were in Tampa, and we were in a circle stretching before [batting practice], and having a good ol\u2019 time. And this someone looks around at all of us and says, \u2018You know what? I\u2019m going to bring a gun to the field tomorrow and kill all of you.\u2019 And then he looks straight at me and says, \u2018And you\u2019re gonna be first.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Holt, who spent\u00a0seven seasons in Boston, said the unnamed Red Sox player was \u201cprobably joking,\u201d but the nature of his comments left people around the organization concerned.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur strength coach at the time was like, \u2018Dude, I got to tell [then-team president Dave Dombrowski].\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Please do because I\u2019m the first one that\u2019s going to go.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t have a lot of time, let\u2019s get him out of here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Andy Barkett, who was the Red Sox\u2019s assistant hitting coach during the 2018 season, appeared to corroborate Holt\u2019s allegations on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrue Story\u2026\u201d he posted on X<\/a> while replying to a clip of the podcast.<\/p>\n

The purported incident did not impact the Red Sox on the field.<\/p>\n

Boston won 108 regular-season games before steamrolling through the Yankees, Astros and Dodgers en route to the franchise\u2019s ninth world championship.<\/p>\n

Holt enjoyed a strong season, .277\/.362\/.411 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs in 109 games.<\/p>\n

The 2015 All-Star also became the first player in MLB history to hit for the cycle in the playoffs, reaching the feat<\/a> in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Yankees.<\/p>\n
