CLEARWATER, FL – After shutting out LSU to open the day, No. 11 Nebraska softball had runners on first and second with two outs, down one, in the final inning Thursday evening, but fell to the No. 20 Georgia Bulldogs by a score of 6-5.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alexis Jensen\u00a0took the loss in the circle after allowing three runs in 2.0 innings. Addisen Fisher grabbed the win for Georgia.<\/p>\n
Jesse Farrell\u00a0led the Huskers offensively with three hits, two RBIs, two doubles and a home run.\u00a0Kacie Hoffmann\u00a0added two hits while\u00a0Jordy Frahm,\u00a0Hannah Camenzind,\u00a0Ava Kuszak,\u00a0Carlie Muhlbach,\u00a0Samantha Bland\u00a0and\u00a0Lauren Camenzind\u00a0had one apiece. Frahm also registered a triple.<\/p>\n
Georgia opened up the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning to make the score 1-0. The Bulldogs extended the lead to 3-0 on another home run in the second.<\/p>\n
L. Camenzind singled in the top of the third and scored on a Farrell double. H. Camenzind scored on a Kuszak RBI to cut the UGA lead to 3-2.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Georgia used three hits and an error to make the score 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth.<\/p>\n
The Huskers continued to fight, as Bland singled and eventually scored on a\u00a0Malia Thoms\u00a0pinch hit sac fly to make the score 6-3.<\/p>\n
Farrell trimmed the lead to 6-4 on a solo home run, her third of the season.<\/p>\n
Frahm logged a triple in the top of the seventh and crossed the plate on a H. Camenzind single to make the deficit one at 6-5.<\/p>\n
The Huskers will take on No. 3 Tennessee tomorrow, Feb. 13.
