With lingering questions about rotation depth ahead of the 2026 season and dwindling starting pitcher options in free agency, the Braves may be forced to make a trade.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-2\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6g\">That may be their best course of action, according to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, who addressed the Braves\u2019 rotation depth concerns during the Grillin\u2019 Ken segment on the Foul Territory Network.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">With starting pitcher free agent options dwindling, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ken_Rosenthal?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@Ken_Rosenthal<\/a> isn&#8217;t ruling out the possibility of the Braves making a trade&#8230; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vM68XmaofW\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/vM68XmaofW<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Foul Territory (@FoulTerritoryTV) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FoulTerritoryTV\/status\/2022010312267120821?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">February 12, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-4\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6m\">Rosenthal explained that Lucas Giolito (3.41 ERA, 121 strikeouts, and a 10-4 record for the Boston Red Sox in 2025) and Zack Littell (3.82 ERA, 130 strikeouts, and a 10-8 record for the Cincinnati Reds in 2025) are the top options in free agency.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-5\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6p\">\u201cAs you can tell, the options are dwindling,\u201d the insider explained. \u201cThere aren\u2019t as many starting pitchers as there were a week ago, certainly two months ago. So, the Braves also could swing a trade, and that perhaps is the way that they might be looking at this.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6s\">Alex Anthopoulos spoke to the media on Friday morning, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/mlb\/braves\/onsi\/news\/braves-confirm-two-expected-arms-will-join-starting-rotation\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the general manager and president of team operations<\/a> said that most of the rotation is set. He confirmed that Reynaldo L\u00f3pez and Grant Holmes will be part of the opening day starting rotation, along with aces Chris Sale and Spencer Strider.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6v\">What happens next for the Atlanta Braves? Hurston Waldrep, Joey Wentz, Martin Perez, and JR Ritchie \u2013 the top prospect in the organization \u2013 are expected to be considered for the position.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-9\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"71\">Waldrep was part of the rotation over the final two months of the season and is the likely early front-runner among the in-house options.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-10\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"74\">&#8220;Hurston is really impressive, man,&#8221; new manager Walt Weiss said this week. &#8220;I mean, it&#8217;s big-time stuff. It&#8217;s big-time swing-and-miss stuff, and I think we&#8217;ve seen the tip of the iceberg with him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-11\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"77\">Spring Training action is set to begin on Saturday, February 21st, with the Braves taking on the Tampa Bay Rays.
