Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Emmet Sheehan spoke about his goals for the 2026 season during the Dodgers\u2019 first day of spring training Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think just making sure my body feels good,\u201d Sheehan said to Dodgers Nation\u2019s Doug McKain<\/a>. \u201cMaking sure I\u2019m strong and ready to go for the full season. I haven\u2019t had a full season in the big leagues so hopefully I can do that this year and stay healthy for as many starts or appearances as I can get.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sheehan pitched in 13 games for the Dodgers in 2023 after making his debut, but landed on the injured list for the entirety of the 2024 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He returned to the Dodgers midway through the 2025 season<\/a> and held a starting spot in their six-man rotation until the postseason.<\/p>\n

While the Dodgers\u2019 rotation isn\u2019t set in stone yet, Sheehan will more than likely have a place in the rotation after his solid run of performances in 2025.<\/p>\n

Through 15 appearances during the regular season, Sheehan proved he belonged in the big leagues by posting a 2.82 ERA through 73.1 innings pitched while striking out 89 batters.<\/p>\n

Sheehan has this goal in mind as well, as he stated he wants to remain in the rotation during the upcoming season.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I mean, definitely,\u201d Sheehan said when asked if he wanted to be a starter in 2026. \u201cIt\u2019s obviously their decision so whatever I can do to help us win I\u2019m down to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who Else Could the Dodgers Have in Their Rotation?<\/p>\n

The Dodgers are spoiled for choice as far as starting pitching goes, with several All-Stars in their ranks.<\/p>\n

Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow are all but certain to land a spot in the rotation, and the Dodgers have plenty of depth backing them up to take the final two spots.<\/a><\/p>\n

Other than Sheehan, Roki Sasaki will be vying to return to starting after a brief stint in the bullpen last season, and River Ryan and Gavin Stone will be looking to make comebacks as well after spending last season on the injured list.<\/p>\n

L.A. is in a great spot with their pitchers, and will look to capitalize on their strength in the coming season as they look for another World Series championship.<\/p>\n
