He didn\u2019t pitch in 2024 nor the first few months of the 2025 regular season after undergoing Tommy John surgery with the Los Angeles Angels in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, I don\u2019t know when he\u2019s going to leave us to join Team Japan, but there\u2019s still gonna be ample time for him to get his progression here with us,\u201d Roberts said. \u201cTo then, I\u2019m sure Mark will be talking to the pitching coach over there and kind of, you know, stick to our plan and we\u2019ll be in lockstep.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I\u2019m not too concerned about it. Again, we\u2019ll know more in the next couple of weeks, you know, and see where the progression is at. But I think for us, it\u2019s, there\u2019s not gonna be any timeline or end line or finish line to kind of where he has to be ready. Mandatory Credit: Rick Scuteri-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>How Did Shohei Ohtani Pitch in 2025?<\/p>\n<p>The superstar made his l<a href=\"https:\/\/dodgersnation.com\/dodgers-shohei-ohtani-has-2-word-message-following-return-to-pitching\/2025\/06\/17\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:ong-awaited return to the mound in 2025;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">ong-awaited return to the mound in 2025<\/a>, making his pitching debut with the Dodgers against the San Diego Padres in June.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>He threw just one inning in his first outing, and slowly worked his way up to pitching six innings as the season progressed. He capped off his season with a scoreless six-inning outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks Sept. 23, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Ohtani finished the regular season with a 2.87 ERA through 47 innings pitched, and maintained his spot in the rotation into the postseason.<\/p>\n<p>He made four postseason starts, posting a 4.43 ERA through 20.1 innings pitched.
