Fortunately for him, the Yankees are not lacking in seasoned leaders.<\/p>\n<p>The Yankees received Weathers in exchange for Dillon Lewis, Brendan Jones, Dylan Jasso, and Juan Matheus. The deal sent a clear message that <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/mlb\/new-york-yankees\/yankees-news-ryan-weathers-aaron-judge-comments\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York is doubling down on pitching<\/a>, and the squad sees something special in Weathers.<\/p>\n<p>The 26-year-old left-hander said he is <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/snyyankees\/status\/2023120389166022691\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">being a sponge<\/a> in spring training, absorbing any bit of wisdom he can get from <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/mlb\/players\/b02509ad\/max-fried\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Max Fried<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/mlb\/players\/b59309db\/carlos-rodon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Carlos Rodon<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/mlb\/players\/c2fb0a26\/gerrit-cole\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gerrit Cole<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere&#8217;s so much knowledge between those three. They&#8217;ve been in this league for almost 10 years. I&#8217;ve been in it for three, and that&#8217;s another seven years (from them) of doing this every single year. At the level they&#8217;ve been doing it, there&#8217;s just a lot that I can pick from them,\u201d said Weathers in a video posted by SNY.<\/p>\n<p>He mentioned that Fried and Rodon have been especially helpful since they are also left-handed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFried&#8217;s really helping me with my breaking ball right now, and it&#8217;s getting closer and closer.
