The Minnesota Twins brought back right-handed reliever<\/a> Liam Hendriks on a minor-league deal last week<\/a>. Hendriks, an Australian native, began his MLB career with the Twins in 2011 and pitched for the organization until being designated for assignment during the 2013-14 offseason.<\/p>\n

The last time Hendriks threw a pitch for the Twins, Minnesota’s roster looked completely different from what it does today. Here’s a look at the lineup from his last appearance with Minnesota, which was over 12 years ago.<\/p>\n

Wow, this lineup sure brings back memories. While it includes several fan favorites like Brian Dozier<\/a> and Trevor Plouffe, let’s hope the 2026 version of the Twins is much better, as the 2013 team finished with a poor 66-96 win-loss record.<\/p>\n

Hendriks has had very succesful career since being let go by Twins in 2013<\/p>\n

Hendriks made 30 appearances (28 starts) during his three seasons with Minnesota, posting an awful 6.06 ERA across 156 innings.<\/p>\n

It’s safe to say the Twins regretted letting Hendriks go. The righty established himself as one of the best relievers in baseball with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2015, posting a 2.92 ERA with 71 strikeouts in 64 2\/3 innings. After his successful season with the Blue Jays, Hendriks was dealt to the Oakland Athletics, where he posted a 3.02 ERA with 332 strikeouts in 263 innings across five seasons. In 2019, he represented the Athletics in the All-Star Game and collected 25 saves. During the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, the righty won the Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year Award.<\/p>\n

After his stint with the Athletics, Hendriks, now 37, signed a three-year, $54 million contract with the Chicago White Sox. He represented Chicago in the 2021 and 2022 All-Star Games before being diagnosed with Stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He fully recovered in mid-2023 and made five appearances for the White Sox that year. In his three seasons with the White Sox, Hendriks posted a 2.76 ERA with 76 saves across 133 2\/3 innings. His 38 saves in 2021 led the American League and helped him win his second Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year Award.<\/p>\n

The righty signed a two-year, $10 million deal with the Boston Red Sox in February 2024. He missed the entire 2024 campaign after undergoing Tommy John Surgery. He made just 14 appearances with Boston in 2025due to a hip injury and undergoing successful right elbow ulnar nerve transposition surgery<\/a>. He had a 6.59 ERA in 13 2\/3 innings in 2025. By signing with Minnesota, Hendriks is seeking to revive his career where it began.<\/p>\n
