It isn\u2019t the worst idea, but just like every trade the Mets will make moving forward, they have to be careful in what they give up.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>In a proposed deal from Ryan Shea of SI, the Mets would acquire star center fielder Byron Buxton from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/mlb\/minnesota-twins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Minnesota Twins;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Minnesota Twins<\/a> in exchange for a package of young talent.<\/p>\n<p>Mets receive: Buxton<\/p>\n<p>Twins receive: Ronny Mauricio, Jonah Tong, Carson Benge<\/p>\n<p>From New York\u2019s perspective, the logic is centered on maximizing its championship window.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Mets would make this trade because they are in a clear win-now window, and adding Byron Buxton gives them a dynamic, five-tool player who can immediately impact their lineup,\u201d Shea <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/onsi\/fantasy\/mlb\/mlb-mock-trade-new-york-mets-acquire-all-star-outfielder-byron-buxton-from-twins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:wrote;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When healthy, Buxton remains one of the best players in baseball, but the issue is that he\u2019s rarely healthy.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis combination of power, speed, and elite defense strengthens both the offensive and defensive sides of the team, providing a boost in run production and overall team efficiency,\u201d Shea added.<\/p>\n<p>For Minnesota, the return would be something it would jump all over, which is why I\u2019m skeptical about this trade making sense for the Mets.
