In the offseason, they did move outfielder and top prospect Owen Caissie to get some more pitching.

But they still have a good young core that is ready to make an impact. Someone to keep an eye on in terms of making an impact is outfielder Kevin Alcántara. The 23-year-old made his debut in 2024 and has played sparingly at the big league level.

In 2025, he had 11 at bats with four hits, two runs, an RBI and a stolen base. He’s not ready for the full jump to come in and take over as a starter just yet but the 2026 campaign could be his breakout season. This past offseason, Alcántara worked hard to do what he can to be a contributor at the big league level.

That included one key adjustment.

Kevin Alcántara made swing adjustments in offseason
Feb 20, 2025; Phoenix, Arizona, USA; Chicago Cubs outfielder Kevin Alcantara against the Los Angeles Dodgers during a spring training game at Camelback Ranch-Glendale.
