Steinbrenner Field. Mandatory Credit: Kim Klement Neitzel-Imagn Images

Jazz Chisholm Jr. put up his first 30-30 season during his first full year with the New York Yankees in 2025. In 2026, the second baseman is setting his sights much, much higher.

Fifty home runs, 50 steals.

“Real life, let’s just be realistic, I got all the tools for it,” Chisholm told reporters down in Tampa. “I have the speed, the power, the plate discipline, the eye at the plate, defense. I got everything to accumulate a 10-WAR season.”

This is not just a statistical anomaly Chisholm is talking about; it’s one of the rarest feats in baseball history. Only Shohei Ohtani in 2024 has had a 50-50 season.

“You’re looking at the second one,” Chisholm defiantly stated.

Across his first six big-league seasons, the 28-year-old has not come particularly close to either of those benchmarks. His 31 home runs were a career high, while he stole 40 bases in 2024. Last year’s production at a 162-game pace came in at approximately 38 home runs and stolen bases.

If Chisholm somehow was able to even flirt with such a stat line, it would turn out to be the best trade that never happened for the Yankees. Reports throughout the winter indicated that GM Brian Cashman was shopping the infielder as he enters the final year of his contract.

“I feel like he’s in a really good frame of mind,” manager Aaron Boone said. “He’s incredibly confident for good reason in his ability to go out there. Bottom line is, if he goes out there, goes to the post, does his thing, and hopefully keeps improving in his game, he’s going to put himself in a really good position come the end of the season.”

For more on Jazz Chisholm Jr. and the Yankees, visit AMNY.com

Feb 12, 2026; Tampa, FL, USA; New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. (13) at bat during…

[2376
5,1363,4,1690,62,2548,2547,185,142
0":"post-581524","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-new-york-yankees","8":"tag-baseball","9":"tag-jazz-chisholm-jr","10":"tag-mlb","11":"tag-new-york","12":"tag-new-york-yankees","13":"tag-newyork","14":"tag-newyorkyankees","15":"tag-sports","16":"tag-yankees
["GET
