LUCIE \u2014 For all his success in the batter\u2019s box last season, Juan Soto seemed to take the most pride in leading the National League with a career-high 38 stolen bases.<\/p>\n<p>It was part of a larger dynamic in which the Mets were constantly on the run and incredibly efficient with an 89.1 percent success rate in stolen bases, which easily led the major leagues. The Mets were fifth in MLB with 147 stolen bases.<\/p>\n<p>Soto and Francisco Lindor (31 stolen bases) were the ringleaders. This newest version of the Mets will have that 1-2 punch, along with Luis Robert Jr. (33 stolen bases last season with the White Sox) and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/12\/sports\/there-are-no-doubts-about-carson-benge-just-one-question-about-his-mets-rise\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">potentially Carson Benge<\/a> (22 stolen bases in the minor leagues) as added weapons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we\u2019re going to be in a good spot whenever the team is going to need the speed,\u201d Soto said Thursday. \u201cWe\u2019re going to have it, so it\u2019s going to be fun.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"PORT ST.
