They\u2019re looking forward to having a fresh start while still having a support system in each other at Spartanburg. All three said their biggest priority is to continue improving on the field while getting their degrees.<\/p>\n
\u201cI’m excited to continue the friendship that I have with my teammates and friends,\u201d Lorier said. \u201cAnd on the field, just looking to get better and compete every day, day in and day out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lorier will continue on as a left-handed pitcher, while Ivy and Jenkins are both utility players with experience all over the field, including on the mound.<\/p>\n
Pitcher Landen Jones will be making the jump to Division I baseball after signing with Coastal Carolina, which just last season made an appearance in the College World Series. The Chanticleers finished runner-up behind LSU in their second-ever appearance in the tournament.<\/p>\n
It was around that same time that Jones made his commitment to the university while still at Strom Thurmond, where he started his high school career. He\u2019ll be finishing out his senior year with the Jackets.<\/p>\n
He said it was the pitching staff at Coastal Carolina that really made the school a perfect fit for him and how he wants to develop as a player.<\/p>\n
\u201cMatt Williams, he’s the pitching coach there,\u201d Jones said. \u201cHe does a really good job at getting guys better. And last year, they had the best pitching staff in college baseball. So that means a lot to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
While this may be his first and last season at North Augusta, many of his new teammates have been along with him for the ride on teams outside of the school. Because of that, Lynn said he had no problem feeling like a Jacket right away with the team.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think whatever they do, they’ve set the bar for our program,\u201d he said. \u201cThey’ve been here for five years, some of them a little bit longer, and some of them a little bit shorter with Landen Jones has been the first year, but he grew up in North Augusta. He’s been with these boys forever, so he’s one of us too and just fits right in.
