The Entertainment District in Arlington, Texas, has so many things to offer, from incredible sports venues to amazing food to one of the nation\u2019s 13 remaining Six Flags theme parks, but through two days at the 2026 Amegy Bank College Baseball Series \u2013 Weekend 2<\/a>, only one team is enjoying a perfect weekend in the seventh-largest city in the Lone Star State.<\/p>\n

No. 9-ranked Auburn<\/a>, one of the six elite college baseball teams competing at Globe Life Field this weekend, is the only squad to win both of its games so far at the home of the 2023 World Series-winning Texas Rangers.<\/p>\n

The Tigers will hit the field again Sunday morning, with No. 15 Louisville<\/a> being the only thing standing between them and an undefeated run at the 2026 College Baseball Series<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Auburn and Louisville will play in the first of the three games on the final day of the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series Weekend 2, and the first pitch is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Eastern.<\/p>\n

Nebraska<\/a> and No. 16 Florida State<\/a> then will face off at 3:30 p.m. EST, while Michigan<\/a> and Kansas State<\/a> battle in the 8 p.m. finale.<\/p>\n

Oh, and every game of the three-weekend, 18-team College Baseball Series is being broadcast live on FloCollege and the FloSports app.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Auburn arrived in Arlington at 3-1 on the season but fresh off an 8-0 home shellacking by Cincinnati on Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Tigers returned to their winning ways with a 5-1 win against Kansas State on Friday, using outstanding pitching to keep the Wildcats at bay until they got some breathing room with a two-run eighth inning.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, it was the offense\u2019s turn to take the reins, as Auburn was forced to fight back from a 4-0 first-inning deficit against unbeaten Florida State.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Tigers\u2019 comeback was slow and steady, with their eight runs in the 8-5 victory being spread over six of their eight opportunities at the plate. They took the lead for the first time with a three-run outburst in the bottom of the fifth inning and added one run in each of the next three innings.<\/p>\n

Louisville\u2019s season has been a little bit like one of the roller coasters down the street at Six Flags Over Texas.<\/p>\n

The Cardinals started their 2026 campaign with a pair of losses, won three in a row, including a 4-2 come-from-behind win Friday against Nebraska at the CBS, and then got bested by unranked Michigan on Saturday, 8-5.<\/p>\n

Now 3-3 on the year, and 1-1 at the 2026 College Baseball Series, Louisville will have to beat Auburn on Sunday to match its 2-1 performance from the 2025 Shriners Children\u2019s College Showdown and leave with another winning record.<\/p>\n

This is Louisville\u2019s third appearance the CBS in the last four seasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Auburn also is familiar with the event and Globe Life Field, with 2026 marking the team\u2019s third visit in the last five seasons. With this year\u2019s two wins, Auburn is 7-1 overall and riding a seven-game winning streak that started after an opening loss to Oklahoma in 2022 and includes three wins in 2025.<\/p>\n

The Tigers and Cardinals have only met three times in their long histories \u2013 a pair of games in 1995 and a meeting at the NCAA Men\u2019s College World Series in 2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Auburn won the first two contests, but Louisville got redemption on the biggest stage in college baseball, earning a 5-3 victory to eliminate the Tigers from the 2019 tournament. The Cardinals went on to suffer a semifinal loss to eventual national champion Vanderbilt.<\/p>\n

The 2026 season marks the sixth consecutive year of college baseball at Globe Life Field and the third straight year the action spans three weekends.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The schedule includes the Shriners Children\u2019s College Showdown (Feb. 13-15), Amegy Bank College Baseball Series \u2013 Weekend 2 (Feb. 20-22) and Amegy Bank College Baseball Series presented \u2013 Weekend 3 (Feb. 27-March 1), all of which will bring 18 teams to Arlington.\u00a0<\/p>\n

About Auburn Baseball<\/p>\n

Last season, Auburn posted a 41-20 overall record, which included a 17-13 performance in SEC games and a sixth-place finish in the conference standings.<\/p>\n

The Tigers did earn a first-round bye as the No. 6 seed for the SEC Baseball Tournament, but they ended up one-and-done, losing to Texas A&M in their second-round matchup.<\/p>\n

Again, playing in the powerful SEC has its advantages, and Auburn was one of the record 13 teams from the conference that advanced to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.<\/p>\n

The Tigers took advantage of the opportunity. They hosted a regional for the third time in four years. They won, defeating Central Connecticut State, Stetson and NC State.<\/p>\n

The reward? Auburn got to host a Super Regional for the first time, though that didn\u2019t turn out so well. The Tigers lost the best-of-three series to eventual national runner-up Coastal Carolina.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This season, Auburn again is ranked in the top 10 nationally and was picked to finish fifth in the ever-tough SEC.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Tigers have won the SEC regular-division title six times, but not since the 1977-1978 season. They\u2019ve also won the SEC Tournament three times \u2013 but not since the 1997-1998 campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a tough spot, as 11 of the 16 teams in the SEC started the season ranked in the top 25. Even at No. 9, Auburn was fifth among them. That\u2019s some tough competition.<\/p>\n

Louisville is coming off a 42-24 campaign that included a 15-15 mark and middle-of-the-pack finish ACC play, before the 10th-seeded Cardinals were bounced from the opening round of the ACC Baseball Championship by Pitt.<\/p>\n

The Cardinals used the disappointment as a springboard after earning one of the ACC\u2019s nine berths in the 2025 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.<\/p>\n

They rolled through the Nashville Regional and defeated Miami 2-1 to win the Louisville Super Regional and advance to the Men\u2019s College World Series for the first time since 2019 and sixth time overall. It was the 19th consecutive tournament with an ACC team playing in the MCWS\u00a0<\/p>\n

Louisville went 2-2 at Charles Schwab Field and lost to eventual national runner-up Coastal Carolina 11-3 in the semifinals. Coastal Carolina then lost to LSU 2-0 in the best-of-three championship series.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Consecutive losses to Michigan State to start the 2026 season for Louisville were followed by a redemption win against the Spartans and a high-scoring victory over Xavier.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the 23-11 win against Xavier on Tuesday, nine of Cardinals\u2019 23 hits went for extra bases, eight players recorded multiple hits, led by Alex Alicea and Tague Davis with four apiece, all nine starters scored at least one run and eight drove in multiple runs.<\/p>\n

Louisville now is back at Globe Life Field for the third time in four years.<\/p>\n

Last year, the Cardinals were 2-1 at the Shriners Children\u2019s College Showdown with wins over No. 7 Texas and No. 12 Arizona and a loss to No.13 Oklahoma State.<\/p>\n

Their 2023 visit to Arlington came a few games into the season, and the Cardinals were 3-0, defeating No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 10 TCU and Michigan.<\/p>\n
