Meyer has been the MLBPA\u2019s lead negotiator &#8212; and he will \u201ccontinue to serve in that role\u201d for the CBA. Skubal, a member of the MLBPA exec subcommittee, said, \u201cWhat I\u2019ve experienced in years past, he\u2019s going to do the best he can to get us the best deal possible, and as a player, that\u2019s all you can really ask for. We\u2019re confident in him.\u201d Petzold noted Meyer \u201csupported\u201d Skubal by \u201cspeaking to the panel of three arbitrators at his\u202fhistoric arbitration hearing Feb. 4 against the Tigers,\u201d in which Skubal\u202fwon to secure a $32M salary for the 2026 season. Had Skubal lost, he would have \u201cbeen given\u201d\u202fthe $19M salary proposed\u202fby the Tigers, but instead he secured his proposed $32M salary\u202ffor the 2026 season. Skubal said, \u201cFor a player to come out on the winning side was great. For him to come in and speak personally, that experience, he\u2019s earned my respect for life with what he said and how he conveyed it.
