NBA superstar Anthony\u00a0Edwards\u00a0arrived at Triple Diamond Sports Cards in Minneapolis Saturday to fans chanting \u201cMVP.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, NBA rookie Cooper Flagg dropped\u00a0over $7,000 on\u00a0rookie\u00a0cards of his\u00a0former Duke teammate and fellow NBA rookie Kon Knueppel, while MLB star Mike Trout traded\u00a0a $10,000 card of himself to a young collector.<\/p>\n
Those were just a few highlights of the fifth Topps Rip Night, an annual celebration of the\u00a0sports cards and memorabilia hobby.<\/p>\n
The Feb. 21 event featured tens of thousands of fans and collectors at more than 800 card and hobby shops throughout the country and in 20 countries around the globe. Fans and collectors of all ages\u00a0were able to meet and interact with sports stars and celebrities while ripping packs and trading cards.<\/p>\n
Among the other highlights included a surprise visit by Tom Brady at Collector\u2019s Club in Miami, and New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart pulling\u00a0a 1\/1 Star Wars card\u00a0at Dave & Adams in New York City.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, New York Yankees players Anthony Volpe, Max Fried, Will Warren, George Lombard and Ryan McMahon arrived at Baseball Cards Clubhouse in Tampa after a 17-run spring training win.<\/p>\n
Lines were wrapped around buildings and city blocks at Rip Night events across the country. The line in New York City stretched over more than three city blocks as fans and collectors waited several hours to get into the event at Dave & Adams.<\/p>\n
The event included a record\u00a0150-plus athletes\u00a0and celebrities, including:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Chicago Bears star\u00a0QB\u00a0Caleb Williams\u00a0at Canon Collectibles\u00a0in\u00a0Beverly\u00a0Hills, Calif. \u00a0<\/p>\n
