You know where he is because of the fans stampeding towards him. You know where he is by their screams when they see him.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/22\/sports\/kyle-tucker-makes-spring-debut-for-dodgers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kyle Tucker<\/a>, on the other hand, travels in silence.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>On any other team, an incoming four-time All-Star outfielder with <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/18\/sports\/mlb-additions-future-free-agents-breakouts-to-watch-this-spring\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a $240 million contract<\/a> would be the center of attention. On the two-time defending World Series champion Dodgers, he\u2019s just another player.<\/p>\n<p>That isn\u2019t a problem for the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/17\/sports\/kyle-tucker-edwin-diaz-give-refreshing-message-to-dodgers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">29-year-old Tucker<\/a>, who referenced his low-key demeanor at <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/01\/sports\/additions-of-tucker-diaz-have-dodgers-aiming-for-three-peat\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">his introductory news conference<\/a> last month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI try to go out and play my game regardless of the situation,\u201d Tucker said.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tMore From\t\t\t\t\t\t\tDylan Hernandez<\/p>\n<p>Tucker received a warm applause earlier this week when he <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/30\/sports\/dodgers-star-kyle-tucker-compared-to-ted-williams\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stepped into the batter\u2019s box<\/a> for his first Cactus League plate appearance The <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/21\/sports\/kyle-tucker-comes-to-la-to-win-another-world-series\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">World Series heroes<\/a> in front of and behind him received much louder ovations: Miguel Rojas and Will Smith.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of days before that, Tucker walked to one of the team\u2019s practice fields for a morning workout with Smith and Freddie Freeman by his side. Most of the fans lined up along a waist-high fence nearby shouted Freeman\u2019s name. Some shouted Smith\u2019s. Tucker was practically unnoticed.<\/p>\n<p>Tucker was the last of the Dodgers\u2019 key players to address the media this spring training, waiting to do so until after he played three innings in a win over the San Diego Padres on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me and the people I talked to about how he goes about it, there\u2019s nothing negative about it,\u201d Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. \u201cI love guys who just come to work and value playing and love playing and competing. He just wants to win. He\u2019s not a self-promoter. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The Dodgers have Ohtani for that. Or Freeman. Or Mookie Betts. Or Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Or Blake Snell. Or \u2026 you get the point.<\/p>\n<p>Rojas was in the same batting practice group as Tucker one recent morning and said he found him to be \u201cpretty chill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s been quiet, easing his way in,\u201d Rojas said. \u201cHe likes to stay in his own lane. He\u2019s not really vocal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rojas continued, \u201cI feel like he\u2019s a veteran. You really care about the player that wants to play, that wants to be out there every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now on his third team, Tucker said he\u2019s been comfortable in the Dodgers\u2019 camp, explaining that he\u2019s found common ground with his new teammates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis group kind of makes it easy,\u201d Tucker said. \u201cI mean, these guys are true professionals and take care of business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.51928783;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38583039\" width=\"896\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/2263025101.jpg\" alt=\"Kyle Tucker of the Los Angeles Dodgers warms up before a spring training game.\" class=\"wp-image-38583039\"  \/>Kyle Tucker warms up during a spring training. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Tucker marveled at the caliber of pitching on the team, some of which he faced in live batting practice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a little tough,\u201d he said. \u201cGlad they\u2019re on our side.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He recalled what it was like trying to hit against Tyler Glasnow.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe California Post is here. That\u2019s the goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was joking, of course.<\/p>\n<p>So there is some personality behind the mask. And as Tucker becomes more comfortable, perhaps that side of him will emerge \u2014 or not. <\/p>\n<p>The choice is entirely his.
