San Diego State outlasted No. 1 UCLA, one of the hottest teams in the country, handing the Bruins their second loss of the season on Tuesday, 4-3.<\/p>\n
The road win and trip up California\u2019s coast to Jackie Robinson Stadium was one of SDSU’s most notable wins in program history, holding the Bruins to their lowest run total in their first eight games.<\/p>\n
MORE UPSETS:\u00a0Georgia State, Arkansas State nab top 10 upsets on Tuesday<\/a><\/p>\n It took a collective effort for SDSU to pull off the upset against UCLA, who swept then-No. 7 TCU this past weekend, shutting down UCLA\u2019s bats most times that they threatened and making opposing pitchers pay.<\/p>\n Starting right-hander Alec Belardes set the tone in the first inning, escaping a zero-out, bases-loaded jam with only one run allowed. Shocking the No. 2 in the country.<\/p>\n That was McNeese’s reality on Tuesday, upsetting No. 2 LSU on the road, 7-6, just days after the Cowboys were swept by Kansas.<\/p>\n One of the biggest wins in school history, McNeese took advantage of an LSU pitching staff that used 10 different arms.<\/p>\n Talk about a turn of events.<\/p>\n Although LSU first baseman Zach Yorke broke the ice in the first inning with a two-run blast to right, the Cowboys responded with authority.
