They say the results of spring training games have no meaning, but it sure is nice to be above .500 even during Cactus League baseball. The 4-2 Colorado Rockies are fresh off a 14-7 win over the Chicago Cubs yesterday and will now take on the San Francisco Giants for the first time this spring.<\/p>\n
Taking the ball to start things off for the Rockies is Mexican righty Valente Bellozo. Bellozo was signed to a minor league contract with a non-roster invite to spring training this off-season and has previously worked with new Rockies pitching coach Alon Leichman in Miami.<\/p>\n
Bellozo will be making his second appearance of the spring and his first start. Last Saturday against the Arizona Diamondbacks he pitched two innings, giving up one earned run on a solo home run. He struck out two and walked one.<\/p>\n
On the bump for the Giants is right-handed pitcher Blade Tidwell. The 24-year-old made his MLB debut last season with the New York Mets and posted a 9.00 ERA over four appearances\u2014two of which were starts. He had ten walks and ten strikeouts.<\/p>\n
Tidwell has a six-pitch mix led by a four-seam fastball that averages 95.8 MPH.
