Logan Allen is in line to play a key role in the Cleveland Guardians<\/a>\u2019 starting rotation during the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

But before Opening Day comes around, the 27-year-old is getting the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent his family\u2019s heritage and compete for Team Panama in the World Baseball Classic.<\/p>\n

Allen made his last Spring Training appearance before departing the Guardians to meet up with the national team, and he looked solid for it being just his second game action this year.<\/p>\n

Cleveland fell to the Chicago Cubs, 8-6, on Friday, with Allen pitching the first three innings. He threw a total of 51 pitches, gave up three hits, two earned runs, struck out two batters, and issued a pair of walks.<\/p>\n

After the game, Allen said he was \u201cHappy to get through three innings clean. Yeah, really, really feeling good. I’m in a good spot. Everything’s moving pretty good, so just excited to get out of here and go represent Panama.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stats only mean so much for a player during Spring Training; the bigger indicator is how they feel on the mound, and Allen believes he was able to accomplish everything he wanted to physically before making his way out to Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don’t know when my pitch count’s going to be anything like that, but I think I’m in a good spot to be able to, go get some substantial innings for Panama, go help us win,\u201d said the Guardians pitcher.<\/p>\n

In terms of what Allen\u2019s build-up process will look like when he gets back to Cleveland\u2019s camp, he doesn\u2019t think it\u2019ll be too much different.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, the way I look at it, I’ll be in kind of high-stakes games, so it’s kind of be in competition mode a little bit more than probably what you get out of the spring training outing,\u201d said Allen.<\/p>\n

\u201cI still think I’m going to be right in the same buildup process. I imagine it’s probably like in that four-inning range that next time out and just kind of keep building the same way that I would if I was here.\u201d<\/p>\n

The key to all of Allen\u2019s buildup has been communication with the team, which he believes has been a lot of.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey’ve done a great job kind of talking with the team here and making sure that everyone’s on the same page. So definitely really appreciate that,\u201d continued Allen.<\/p>\n

Now that Allen is ready to pitch in the WBC physically, the only thing left to do is go out and make his country proud.<\/p>\n
