He’s a great starter and could be a quality top-flight starter for the next two seasons.

The Twins veteran right-hander is 29 years old and coming off a strong 2025 season, where he had a 3.42 ERA in 30 starts. He finished with 4.5 bWAR and recorded 194 strikeouts in 171 innings pitched.

While the Mariners’ current rotation, with Luis Castillo, Bryan Woo, Logan Gilbert, George Kirby, and Bryce Miller, is already a set five-man rotation, the depth could be an issue.

More: Twins get devastating injury news on Pablo Lopez

Emerson Hancock and Dane Dunning might be forced into a prominent role this upcoming season if there’s an injury. Logan Evans is out for the year, and while they have a few options, if the Mariners lose a top flight starer, they’d be in a bad spot.

Instead, the Mariners could splurge on someone like Ryan, adding an ace-level pitcher to an already stacked rotation, giving the Mariners what the Los Angeles Dodgers used to their advantage in their World Series run.

Having extra starting pitchers can’t hurt, especially with the Mariners rotation already dealing with some slight depth concerns.

Ryan would cost a lot to acquire. But if the Mariners are ready to go all-in for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, then Ryan would be a great trade target for Seattle this season.

More MLB news:

Mariners predicted to trade for 3.42 ERA All-Star to add to already stacked rotation originally appeared on The…

[2392
5,762,1996,1123,764,465,1455,2601,630,466,57,331,620,60,4,1997,5749,619,65,3235,70
post-597564","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-seattle-mariners","tag-baseball","tag-bryan-woo","tag-bryce-miller","tag-dane-dunning","tag-emerson-hancock","tag-george-kirby","tag-joe-ryan","tag-kerry-miller","tag-logan-evans","tag-logan-gilbert","tag-los-angeles-dodgers","tag-luis-castillo","tag-mariners","tag-minnesota-twins","tag-mlb","tag-pablo-lopez","tag-rotation","tag-seattle","tag-seattle-mariners","tag-seattlemariners","tag-toronto-blue-jays
["GET
